2006 Season - Week 6
Trading Day 1
20 players came and went as owners got serious with those underperforming NFL players. In all 12 owners made changes to their teams with Wayne, AP and Mark making 3 each. As always a big BUMS thanks to Cheryl for the food. Instant analysis is even more ridiculous than usual as 6 teams had bye on Sunday but it’s still fun. Johnny, Mark & Wayne were the biggest winners with their additions outscoring their cuts by 6 points. Dave G was the biggest loser (-6) as 1 of his 2 cuts scored a TD but both of his signings were on bye’s! Still it will set him up well for the next 5 weeks.
Most Popular/Unpopular teams
The surprising New Orleans proved the most popular team as they added 3 players to BUMS rosters. Deuce McAllister, Marques Colston and HC Sean Payton joined the BUMS. 3 teams added 2 more players each: Chicago, Cleveland & the Jets (The Bears actually added 3 but lost 1 as AP swapped Chicago RB’s dropping Thomas Jones and signing Cedric Benson). Oakland were the least popular team as Mark cut all 3 of his Raiders (and you call yourself a fan), trading away Randy Moss, Aaron Brooks and Art Shell. Daz cut Raider receiver Jerry Porter so in total Oaktown lost 4 players. Miami and Washington lost 2 players each.
Cuts by draft round
It doesn’t matter which round you are selected in you can still be cut. It’s good to see that owners aren’t stubborn if they realise they’ve made a first round gaff. 3 players taken in the first round of the draft last month got their marching orders including second pick in the draft Edgerrin James who was dropped by Phil. As mentioned above Mark dropped Randy Moss and AP, Thomas Jones. 2 second rounders, 3 third, 5 fourth, 2 fifth and 5 sixth rounders were cut as well as 1 Franchise player. Wayne cut ties with disappointing Titan RB Chris Brown. Wayne will pay him £0.5m for the rest of the year. Tennessee now have the dubious distinction of being the only team not to have a player on a BUMS roster.
BUMS on Seats.
Due to half-term there is no gathering on Sunday. It will be H’s on Tuesday from 6:30pm for NY Giants @ Dallas. Let him know if you intend to go. Chief, Mrs Chief, Junior BUM and Junior BUM Jnr are off on holiday next week so there will be no newsletter but I will send out the scores whenever I get a chance. Y Viva Espana.
